Intro:
Sometimes you meet someone and you think of me and wonder if they’d be a good English student for me to work with. This imagined letter is to help clear up that doubt with real situations you might notice in conversations you’re having with others.💗
Dear Vickie,
I met someone who I think will be perfect for classes with you. But how do I know for sure?!
Sincerely,
Surely Unsure
Dear Surely Unsure,
Great question! This can help you feel more on the sure side of things. ☺️
What someone says about their English is your biggest clue.
So, rather than paying attention to their English level, listen for things like this:
🕵️♀️ Apologizing for their English by saying, “I’m sorry my English isn’t perfect.”
🕵️♀️ Mentioning they’re looking for help with comments like, “I want to start English classes again…”
When I was ready for a French teacher, those were things people would hear me saying. So, pay attention and see if that person says something similar.
If they do, you can feel surely sure that I’d love to chat with them about their English learning. Feel free to send them my way. My contact page is the best way to do that. 💌
And if it turns out I’m not the right teacher to help them, hey, I might know someone who is. 🤗
Thanks for helping more people enjoy using English!
Cheers,
Vickie
